I like experimenting. It can be fun to take a spirit you love and are comfortable with and incorporate other spirits or liqueurs and see what comes out of it. There are times when you have to edit, a little bit more of this, less of that. Other times, inexplicably, it works and you realize you just created something interesting and delicious. The Violet Delight is a balanced, yet boozy cocktail. If you love floral and gin, this is the cocktail for you.

This cocktail features Empress Elderflower Rose Gin, which is partly where the deep violet-purple color comes in. If you haven’t tried this gin, I highly recommend it not only for this cocktail but for others such as a French 75. We did French 75’s with Empress Gin last year for a birthday party and they were a huge hit not only for the quality and taste but for the vivid purple presentation.
There is also a touch of Creme de Violette in this cocktail. This adds to the overall floral element of the cocktail as a whole. We round it out with Cocchi Americano, Maraschino Liqueur, and lime juice. Cocchi Americano is an Italian Aperitif, which is a fortified wine with a slightly sweet profile and a slight bitterness. Maraschino liqueur adds a touch of earthiness and lime juice adds a tart finish. This is a great cocktail for a cocktail class, girls' night, wedding reception, or a birthday surprise for someone who loves floral and botanical.

Here are the specs for The Violet Delight:

.25 oz Maraschino Liqueur
